You can dance the day away at the Lake Erie Folk Fest! Here is the schedule of free daytime dances and dance lessons from 1 to 6 pm.
Freestyle Clogging at the Old-Time Shindig with Joel Specht and Friends
1 – 2:30pm, Room 241-242
Old Time Slow Jam led by Joel Specht (clawhammer banjo) and accompanied by musicians Hannah Arnson (fiddle), Michael Morgan (fiddle), Leo Debevc (guitar), and Andrej Debevc (mandolin). Cloggers are welcome to bring their shoes and trade steps as the room has a nice wooden floor.
Musicians that join the jam are encouraged to make tune requests. The jam will be going through the keys of G and D playing some of the old time workhorses: Big Scioty, Seneca Square Dance, Waynesboro, Shove that Pigs Foot, Nail that Catfish to a Tree, Winder Slide, Soldier’s Joy, Camp Meeting at the 4th of July, Arkansas Traveler, Yellow Rose of Texas, Mississippi Sawyer, and others.
Square Dance with caller Lindsay McCaw and music by Aaron Jonah Lewis, Paul Kovac and Bryan Thomas

Start your dancing day with a lively square dance. Lindsay McCaw is the caller, with Aaron Jonah Lewis on fiddle, both from the Corn Potato String Band. Paul Kovac is on guitar and Bryan Thomas on bass.
Beginning Tap Dance with Diane Savelli

Dianne Savelli is founder and director of Savelli Dance and Martial Arts in Mentor, Ohio. She has served as Artist-in-Residence for the Cleveland School of the Arts and has done choreography or directed shows for most of the major community theatre groups in the area, including the Willoughby School of Fine Arts. She has seen her students continue with careers in the Pennsylvania Ballet, Cleveland Ballet, Ballet Nevada, and the Radio City Rockettes, as well as Broadway shows and most of the major televised award shows.

Two-stepping and waltzing to traditional Cajun music are more fun that a barrel of crawfish! So put on your dancing shoes and let Cheri Chapman and Dennis Tranchita show you how they do it in Louisiana on a Saturday night! Live music will be provided by The Cajun Pals, Brad Smedley, Jim Richards and Mark Laskey.

Polka with the Button Box Divas
4:45 – 6pm, Center Gym #135
The Button Box Divas value and promote polka music around the USA. Although their main specialty is Slovenian style Polka & Waltz, the group also performs traditional styles of songs. Band members for their Lake Erie Folk Fest 2018 appearance are Julie Tabaj, Susie Pegoraro & Johnny Pasterik.
Irish Step Dance with Catherine Leneghan
5 – 5:45pm, Room 241-242
Learn the fundamentals of Irish “step” dancing, with instruction by Catherine Leneghan of The Leneghan Academy of Irish Dance. The Academy has been dedicated to sharing Irish culture in the Cleveland area for 25 years. Classes are held for competitive, recreational and performance based students here at Shore Cultural Centre as well as in Middleburgh Heights and Westlake. Leneghan can also provide dancers for performances at venues such as festivals, libraries, weddings, nursing homes and parish parties.
