We’re Excited to Invite You to Our New Home!

Lake Erie Folk Fest is Moving to CWRU

WE ARE EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE that the Lake Erie Folk Fest has a new home and new partnerships for our Feb. 3, 2024 festival.

We’ve been looking for a few years now for the right space to allow the fest to grow, to make it accessible to our large and growing community, and to help us meet our goal of sharing the music we love with younger audiences. We think our new home will do all those things!

We hope you’ll come visit us in February, when LEFF moves to a new space in Case Western Reserve’ University’s Thwing Center, in partnership with WRUW-FM, CWRU’s college radio station.

In its first seven years, the Lake Erie Folk Festival grew to be a cornerstone of Northeast Ohio’s traditional music community, thanks to the support of people like you.

The festival has drawn visitors from five counties and three states to Greater Cleveland in the otherwise dark days of February, a bright spot in the cultural calendar and an important anchor in growing and sharing the riches of the region’s traditional music scene.

The Case Western Reserve University campus is in the heart of Northeast Ohio’s largest arts and culture hub, and WRUW is the preeminent college radio station in our region. We’re happy to be bringing all the resources of this new home and partnership to our traditional music community.

Plans for this year’s festival include all the free daytime workshops, performances and jam sessions that you’ve grown to love, as well as an evening concert packed with local, regional and national talent. For more information about Northeast Ohio Musical Heritage Association, and to meet some of our new board members, stop by our NEOMHA website.

We’ll make sure you have all the details you need for directions, parking, programs and more, so watch this space as we get closer to festival time – we’ll have lot of fun news to share. .

We can’t wait to see you in February!

Share a little year-end love with NEOMHA

Giving Tuesday (the Tuesday after Thanksgiving) is coming SOON, so please remember NEOMHA in your giving plans. We’ll be reaching out with easy ways to share the love so we can continue to bring the
great music, education, and community that you’ve come to expect.

Great music coming up in our area

Some friends and colleagues have shared news of some good music happening out there. If you’re missing the endless opportunities for tunes that summer in northeast Ohio offers, check these out:

The last of these excellent Folknet concerts is November 11 (but we’re looking forward to the community sing in December!).

You can see John McCutcheon this weekend in Chagrin.

John McCutcheon has performed with Pete Seeger, Arlo Guthrie and Johnny Cash.

Or catch Cleveland Classical Guitar’s free showcase at the Maltz Performing Arts Center on Saturday.

There’s also a free old time jam every month at the Music School Settlement.

And the GAR Grass Jam is back at GAR Hall, along with so much good music in this beautiful venue, tonight and beyond. Get out and hear some great music with some good people! We can’t wait to see you all in February.
